Naperville: Riverwalk Ghost Tour

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

WHEN, WHERE AND WHAT IS THIS HISTORIC GHOST TOUR OF NAPERVILLE?
We are the FIRST and FINEST ghost tour in Chicago's west suburbs.  Don't fall for similiarly-named competitors; this is the ONLY Naperville ghost tour providing genuine EMF Ghost Meters for guests to use at no charge—the ONLY tour where YOU are the ghost hunter!  This two hour, lantern-lit walking tour of Naperville's haunted history takes you along Naperville's beautiful Riverwalk (entirely outdoors).  Dearly departs at 8:00 PM from the sidewalk outside of Quigley's Irish Pub, 43 E. Jefferson St. in downtown Naperville, IL 60540, and ends at the Riverwalk's Dandelion Fountain on Jackson St. across from Nichols Library.

WHERE CAN I PARK?
Parking is plentiful and free in Naperville. Quigley's is surrounded on all sides by parking lots. 

DO I HAVE TO BRING MY TICKETS?
Yes.  After registering, you will receive a combined email confirmation/ticket.  Print out each page and present it to your Ghost Host the night of your tour.  One ticket covers your entire party.  A voucher presented on your cell phone is acceptable, and also covers the whole party.

You can call the HAUNTED HOTLINE at 630-212-0707 (available only between 7:30 PM to 8:10 PM).

I NEED TO CANCEL/UPDATE MY RESERVATION.
TO CANCEL OR CHANGE YOUR RESERVATION, GO TO EVENTBRITE.COM and click on the My Tickets link. Additional tickets may also be purchased at that time.  Cancellations and changes may be made until 12:00 PM on the day of the tour for a full refund.  All cancellations made after 12:00 PM are NOT refunded.

SHOULD I TIP THE TOUR GUIDE?
Gratuities are a big part of your Ghost Host's compensation, so they're gratefully accepted.  We recommend 15% to 20%.  

WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?
WE WILL EMAIL AND/OR PHONE YOU BY 5:00 PM TO CANCEL IF THE WEATHER CONDITIONS BELOW ARE NOT MET. To check weather conditions for downtown Naperville, visit WEATHER.COM, enter zip code 60504, and click on the Hourly forecast for 8:00 PM.

TOURS WILL NOT BE HELD UNDER ANY OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING WEATHER CONDITIONS:  If the weather at 8:00 PM is predicted to be at or below 40 degrees F, with winds at or greater than 12 mph, and rain or snow is anything more than as "steady light" or "sporadic moderate", the tour will likely not be held.  Distant thunder and lightning is usually OK (even preferred!).  Any night meeting most, if not all, of these weather conditions may be subject to rescheduling.  If you're unsure and haven't been contacted by 5:00 PM, call 630-978-7033, BUT PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAILS AND VOICEMAILS FIRST.

WILL DIANE LADLEY PERSONALLY HOST MY GHOST TOUR?
Due to uncertain health, "America's Ghost Storyteller" is not always up to hosting...but she'll sure try to give as many tours as she can.

HOW LONG OF A WALK IS IT?
About 10 blocks, with plenty of stops to hear the stories.  There is one hill (down), two short stairs, and two opportunities to sit down along the way.  THIS RIVERWALK GHOST TOUR IS NOT ENTIRELY WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE (however, you'd only miss one stop, at the 9/11 Memorial--and it's not even haunted).

IS IT SAFE TO BE IN DOWNTOWN NAPERVILLE AT NIGHT?
Yes!  FBI reports consistently show that Naperville is the safest city for its size in Illinois, and rank it as having one of the lowest crime rates in the nation.  Click here for details and recent statistics. 

CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN?
This walking tour is unofficially rated PG, and recommended for ages 8+, even younger at the parents' discretion as long as they are accompanied by an adult. As parents are expected to know their children's fright levels, we are not responsible for nightmares. It's a delightfully frightful night out for families, couples and larger groups.  

SHOULD I BRING ANYTHING?
Yes...comfortable walking shoes, APPROPRIATE DRESS FOR THE WEATHER and an open mind.  Cameras are encouraged; guests have captured unexplained shadows and orbs during the tour!  

SHOULD WE EAT BEFORE OR AFTER THE TOUR?
Either way is fine, though most people prefer to dine beforehand and enjoy drinks and dessert afterwards.  We highly recommend dining at Quigley's Irish Pub, not only for its convenience but for their excellent food and ambiance (yes, it's said to be haunted!).  

WHAT'S THE REFUND POLICY?
Refunds are available ONLINE ONLY by going to Eventbrite.com and clicking on the My Tickets tab. NO REFUNDS ARE GRANTED AFTER 12 NOON THE DAY OF YOUR TOUR.  Cancellations after 12 noon will be rescheduled or will be assigned a non-expiring Promotional Code in the amount you paid to rebook for a later date.
